 2017 Preview 


       North Jackson completed the 2016 season with a 6-5 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region seven, the Chiefs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. North Jackson reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Hokes Bluff by a score of 24-14.

       Since 2010, North Jackson has gone a combined 53-29. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 4A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, North Jackson has gone a combined 223-84. Their 73.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 4A and 18th in the AHSAA. The Chiefs have been successful on the football field with twenty-three winning seasons during this time.

       The Chiefs are led by head coach Mark Rose who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 105-29 over the past eleven seasons at North Jackson. Under his direction the Chiefs have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times. They have won seven region crowns with Coach Rose.

       Coach Rose's overall record as a head football coach in nineteen season stands at 159-66 (70.7%). His 159 wins rank th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Rose's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of sixteen times and won nine region championships.

       The North Jackson Chiefs will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2017 season.

       The Chiefs should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Chiefs open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Walter Wellborn on Friday, August 25 at The Hill. Last year the Walter Wellborn Panthers finished with an overall record of 5-4 and in fifth place in Class 3A region five. The Panthers ended last season on a positive note with a win over White Plains by a score of 62-13 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       This will be the second meeting between North Jackson and Walter Wellborn on the football field. The Chiefs have a 1-0-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in with
